Charlotte Hysen is a 23-year-old visual artist in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northeastern University in December 2024 with a degree in Media Arts and Communication Studies. She was a co-op, then a Digital Media Specialist for two years at the Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey. Now, she works as the Digital Media Coordinator for Letitia James, New York State’s Attorney General.

Charlotte completed her capstone, a multimedia instillation titled Remembering Monday (2024/2025), which explores how memories are formed, altered, and ultimately, remembered through creating an immersive environment that combines video, audio, photography, scent, and textiles. She received the CAMD Student Grant for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity for the instillation, and it has been featured in Gallery 360 and the Willow Gallery. Additionally, the instillation received Northeastern’s Reserve Award for creative excellence.
Charlotte’s photography has been featured in Northeastern magazines such as Spectrum and The Fashion Society. Her work has received a Gold Key and an Honorable Mention at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for photography. Her photography placed fourth in the School of the New York Times Photojournalism Challenge. In 2019, her six-minute short film, Pick One, received a Gold Standard in NYU’s Digital Filmmaking class. Charlotte’s first film, Talk to Me, a 13-minute short that she made at age 16, won Best Screenplay and Best Actress at the HCST Film Festival. It also won the New Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow award at the Golden Door International Film Festival.
